The best 15 places where to Buy dorm stuff
Looking for the best stores and places where you can buy dorm stuff can be pretty annoying and time-consuming.
When I was a freshman last year, I was so freaking excited about my dorm room shopping that I can finally decide on everything for my new mini home.
However, I didn’t know my head from my legs when it came to where to shop for dorm essentials, which stores are worth going to, and the stores I would only get quick and easy stuff for my dorm.
Honestly, it was an exhausting thing and it takes a century to just go through this whole process which you will probably waste a lot of time.
For all of the above reasons and by the end of this blog post, you’ll be able to shop for your dorm room in 4 hours only instead of days. I mean, I’ve seen people shop for their dorm room in weeks which is just insane. Not only this, you’ll be able to be the first dorm shopper for your dorm instead of going to stores like Target, and Walmart, when everything is picked up, and get your hands on 3 of the most picked and top-rated dorms essentials freshmen students have to buy immediately.
Where to Buy Dorm Stuff
I really want to quickly mention that you need to consider shopping for your dorm room by early July.
This is crucial because you don’t want to be buying your dorm stuff when everyone else is shopping for dorm essentials.
Also, you won’t be worried about essentials that are sold out or out of stock.
Another thing I recommend is to decide on your dorm room color scheme ahead so you won’t be getting your dorm essentials randomly and nothing will be matching together.
1. Target
The very first store where you absolutely have to go to buy dorm stuff is Target.
Honestly, Target has pretty much everything you need for your dorm room and at different price ranges. You will find everything from dorm beddings, dorm kitchen essentials, to school supplies.
What I love most about Target is they have a dedicated whole dorm section for students to buy their college essentials which is just amazing.
If you’re like me who hates to keep going from one section to another to find your target products, then Target makes it a whole easier for you.
Another thing I did when I was buying my dorm essentials for freshman year was I went to Target college dorm essentials on their website and checked everything they have. You can find anything from dorm decor to dorm bath supplies listed there.
The other thing I used the target app and added to my shopping cart everything I want to buy so I know exactly what I’m getting when I go to the store so I won’t get distracted or get over my budget.
2. Walmart
Walmart is the second store I went to stalk some dorm stuff.
I can say that Walmart prices are a bit low than Target’s which is great if you’re staying on a budget.
If you’re looking for dorm decoration, dorm fridge, or electronics, I actually would get these from Walmart.
They also have a college dorm essentials section on their website to check, and you can even compare prices with Target.
I got my dorm fridge, vacuum, and some kitchen basis from there.
3. Amazon
Who doesn’t love Amazon? I mean it literally has everything you need and what you don’t need or even think about lol.
What I love most about Amazon you can find the exact match of products on target, Walmart, and other stores but at a very low price.
You’ll be using Amazon a lot at college and it’s a lifesaver for some of the essentials you’ll be getting last minute after moving.
Also, I’m obsessed with their 2 days shipping for Amazon prime members and sometimes you get your stuff the same day you shop.
You’ll absolutely need to sign up for Amazon Prime for Students where you’ll get 6 MONTHS of free shipping ( No one can resist this really).
4. Dormify
One of the best places where you can buy dorm stuff is Dormify.
Dormify is every college girl’s dorm wonderland. They are specifically for dorm rooms and they have everything you can ever think of but high quality.
What I love about Dormify is they have the trendiest and fanciest dorm room essentials we all love and want to have as it makes it easy for you to decorate your dorm room and have a beautiful aesthetic dorm room that feels just like home. These are my best top items from Dormify that you absolutely have to consider buying.
5. Home Goods
Home Goods is another place where you buy dorm stuff. I really like home goods for dorm storage, decorations, and some other dorm essentials you can find at a steal price.
Home Goods are known for having a lot of discounts and deals you can’t find anywhere else.
6. Ikea
Who doesn’t love Ikea? I went to Ikea after going to Target and Walmart because you can get the best piece of furniture from there and storage.
7. DormCo
Dorm Co is another online website dedicated to dorm room essentials and everything you need for college.
What I love about DormCo is I can find matching items for dorm rooms that work best with any dorm room color scheme.
I know how annoying it can be when you’re going for a dorm room color scheme that totally reflects you or you’re obsessed about something but you can’t find the perfect color match that just goes and blends with everything. I promise DormCo is just the best when it comes to this.
They offer so many color varieties and the best dorm room essentials you’ll need for college.
Also, they always have students’ discounts which are so perfect for the back-to-school season if you want to get high-quality dorm essentials on a budget.

10. Etsy
I can’t say enough about Etsy. You can find anything you want on Etsy and even the stuff you weren’t thinking about.
The only difference between Etsy and Amazon for me is I love the customization features Etsy sellers offer to make your purchased items more about you and they just have authentic and amazing dorm stuff at a low price.
I was able to get the most beautiful wall arts for like 30$ and print them myself.
My friends at college thought I spend hundreds on them.
11. The Container Store
The container store is the BEST place to get dorm storage.
I don’t recommend getting storage from any place except the container store.
I really love you can get your storage that goes perfectly with your dorm room’s tiny space that will help you organize your dorm room because they have different storages in their dorm room department you can check on their website.
Also, just knowing the fact they have a dedicated department for dorm rooms storage ideas that will make it 10X easier for you to get the storage you need that goes perfectly with your dorm room space.
Also, let’s don’t forget their reasonable prices that work for any budget.
12. Bath and Beyond
Another great stop to buy dorm stuff. Bath and Beyond is the perfect spot for dorm essentials like bedsheets and high-quality towels that will last you for a century.
However, I do find bath and beyond a bit pricy and that’s something I was able to handle as I always just for discounts and coupons where you can get high-quality dorm essentials at a huge discount.
13. Urban outfitters
Urban Outfitters has so many different ranges of beds sheets and high-quality comforters that will last you the whole college life.
Also, Urban Outfitters is the perfect stop to get matching dorm essentials for anyone who just has a vibe or a dorm color scheme they are going for.

15. TJ MAX
I really love TJ MAX, they do have everything you need for your dorm room and so many varieties that you’ll want to get everything because they have the cutest dorm essentials ever.
What I love as well is their decoration department and anything from them is just of great quality.
You’ll never get disappointed.
16. Wayfair
I can’t deny the fact I never thought of going to Wayfair to shop for my dorm room because I thought there are a lot of stores I can check for my dorm room essentials and Wayfair isn’t even on my list.
This was probably one of the mistakes I did because I got the same rug my friend got at a lower price where I spend twice the price she did.
I literally just wanted to cry and how stupid I was.
Getting a high-quality rug for your dorm room is essential and Wayfair has the best rugs at reasonable prices than other stores like urban outfitters or bath and beyond.
